Community Health Advocates (formerly the New York City Managed Care Consumer Assistance Program- NYC MCCAP) assists consumers, communities, and social service organizations in navigating New York’s healthcare systems and services. We help people understand and access Medicaid, Medicare, Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus, commercial insurance and other health care options.
What makes Community Health Advocates (CHA) unique is that our network of 25 organizations provides free health and insurance coverage information and advice to uninsured and insured New Yorkers in their communities and in their own languages.
Community Health Advocates provides health access services in more than 11 languages to: Assist you to get the health coverage you need; Teach you how to use your health insurance once you are enrolled; Help you make sure you are getting the best care possible.
Community Health Advocates is a program of the Community Service Society of New York (CSS), the city’s leading voice on behalf of low-income New Yorkers. Through applied research, advocacy, litigation, and innovative service models, CSS responds to urgent, contemporary challenges by pioneering programs for a more prosperous city.
